Oreo was a child and mum’s brand in India. Like many brands they wanted to speak to Gen Z, and Gen Z was head over heels (upside down) over Stranger Things.  We introduced the red velvet cookie, OREO’s first-ever color swap in India, which mirrored the eerie glow of Hawkins’ darkest secrets. The strategy? Open a portal of nostalgia and thrill, blending a cult-favorite snack with a cult-favorite show.

The classic Oreo was seen entering a rift and coming back fully red from
the Upside Down. Then a shocking confession from Oreo and Netflix legitimized that Stranger Thingshad indeed  turned Oreo red.

We then dropped a spot which morphed the iconic opening sequence of the show with Oreo’s iconic cookie prints. The Stranger Oreo was a supernatural hit on supermarket shelves, with eleven on ten points to Oreo from Gen Z for understanding them and paying a tribute to their favourite show.
